Jazell Barbie Royale was recently crowned this year’s Miss International Queen, a beauty pageant for transgender women from all over the world based in Thailand.
She is the first person of colour to win the competition in 15 years.
Jazell Barbie Royale competed against 19 other contestants and in addition to taking home the crown, she won “Best Talent.”
She wants to use her new platform to educate others about the importance of HIV testing, safe sex, and medical care.
She also said that she was impressed by Thai people who are “very accustomed to being around trans women.”
Jazell has never seen a place like Thailand where “everywhere you turn, everywhere you look you see someone of trans experience”
